The History of The Historic Randolph Cemetary

On Friday, October 19, 2012 , our guest speaker was Maeward Belk with the Historic Columbia Foundation.  She discussed the historic Randolph Cemetery which was established in the mid-1800s as a cemetery for Columbia’s African American citizens.  Many prominent African American leaders are buried there, including 10 reconstruction era state legislators.  Over time, the cemetery fell into disrepair.  Ms. Belk discussed ongoing restoration efforts for this important historical treasure.
